The Brilliance of a Rexburg Sun Shower

So, I love rain. It smells wonderful. The sound puts me to sleep. It gives me a feeling of cleanliness, like the world around me is getting a shower. Especially here in Idaho, rain feels like a fresh breath of air--a rare one. So, I took a few pictures during Saturday's storm. I've always wanted to figure out how to capture rain in a photograph and actually make it look good. Here's my first of countless tries:

This is probably my favorite shot of the day. Good lines, nice colors. I didn't have to play with it much to get it to look this good. I loved how the rain looked on the roof of the blackness of the car.

So, I took some colorful liberties with this shot. I really love how vibrant and warm this picture makes Rexburg look...seeing as Rexburg is just the opposite.

I like the shadows and the way the rain was hitting the pavement in a constant pattern. It was really coming down for a while there, despite the sun being out.

This shot...another one of my favorites. It's hard to explain why I find it so lovely. I guess I like the strips of water and pavement, and then the color in the reflection in both.

With these shots, I was playing with my camera to see if I could get the water smooth and to get it completely stopped in motion. Still learning, so I wasn't completely successful. It makes a couple of pretty cool pictures, though!

The trees are just blooming, and the rain made their color very vibrant. They were especially bright against the dark sky behind them.
