The Brilliance of a Rexburg Sun Shower

So, I love rain. It smells wonderful. The sound puts me to sleep. It gives me a feeling of cleanliness, like the world around me is getting a shower. Especially here in Idaho, rain feels like a fresh breath of air--a rare one. So, I took a few pictures during Saturday's storm. I've always wanted to figure out how to capture rain in a photograph and actually make it look good. Here's my first of countless tries:

This is probably my favorite shot of the day. Good lines, nice colors. I didn't have to play with it much to get it to look this good. I loved how the rain looked on the roof of the blackness of the car.

So, I took some colorful liberties with this shot. I really love how vibrant and warm this picture makes Rexburg look...seeing as Rexburg is just the opposite.

I like the shadows and the way the rain was hitting the pavement in a constant pattern. It was really coming down for a while there, despite the sun being out.

This shot...another one of my favorites. It's hard to explain why I find it so lovely. I guess I like the strips of water and pavement, and then the color in the reflection in both.

With these shots, I was playing with my camera to see if I could get the water smooth and to get it completely stopped in motion. Still learning, so I wasn't completely successful. It makes a couple of pretty cool pictures, though!

The trees are just blooming, and the rain made their color very vibrant. They were especially bright against the dark sky behind them.

Rexburg in the spring.

So, not much has happened with my summer so far, but I thought I would put a few pictures that I've taken up.

Insert Michael Buble's Fever to this picture. I love my candles. So peaceful.

Katrina being weird with the strings that pull my shades up. She makes me laugh.

This little guy was hanging out on that post for a while, so I took a few shots of him. Cute little guy.

Today's rain on the telephone wires outside my window.

Some green growing on Rexburg's best looking tree.
